Latest list of track openings at Carnarvon Gorge

A heavy drenching of summer rain at Carnarvon Gorge has been a welcome relief from the heat and bushfires but it also left a mess! This means some of the walking tracks had to temporarily close.
Below is our comprehensive list of openings and closures, as of 14 December 2023 (but please check QLD Parks and Wildlife Service’s website for the latest alerts):
- Carnarvon Creek / Rock Pool OPEN
- Mickey Creek + Warrumbah Bluff OPEN
- Visitor Area OPEN but camping is not permitted this time of year. A range of accommodation options is available at the nearby BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Carnarvon Gorge.
- Boolimba Bluff OPEN
- Moss Garden OPEN
- Amphitheatre OPEN
- Ward’s Canyon CLOSED
- Art Gallery OPEN but the track beyond this point – including Cathedral Cave, Boowinda Gorge and Big Bend, is currently off-limits
- Battleship Spur and beyond is CLOSED as a precaution this time of year – due to re-open late February 2024 – because of the bushfire risk.
